Can I create a document type based from the Public solutions?

Yes. You can use the templates in the Public domain solutions when creating document types and maintain it privately within your domain. After doing so, you can make changes to the template and customize to suit your needs.
NOTE: In order to create document types in FormsBoard, you must be a domain owner or a domain administrator. If you wish to create a domain, please refer to this.
  1. Login to https://www.formsboard.com/ using your credentials.
  2. Click on My Domains, found on the top navigation menu.
  3. You will see a list of the domains you administer. Select the domain you wish to add document types to and click Manage Domain under the Actions column.
  4. Click ManageDocument Types.
  5. Click on the Create New Document Type link located under the page title.
  6. In the InfoPath Form Template (XSN File) section, click on the Customize a public template link.

  8. You can use the default icon for the Public document type by checking the box:
  9. Fill out the rest of the fields in the Create Document Type page:
    1. Document Type Name – this will be the name used in the backend system. It must be unique among document types in this domain, contain only letters and numbers, and be 50 characters or less. The Document Type Name is required.
    2. Friendly Name – this name appears throughout FormsBoard and can contain any characters, but must be 50 characters or less. The Friendly Name is not required. However, if no value is entered for this field, FormsBoard will automatically use the Document Type Name as the Friendly Name.
    3. Description – enter a short description of the purpose of this document type. The description is limited to a maximum of 300 characters and it is optional.
    4. Document Type Icon(only appears if you have not selected to use the default public document type icon) click Browse and select an icon that will represent the document type. The maximum image size is 120 pixels x 120 pixels and can be in JPEG, GIF, BMP and PNG formats. The Document Type Icon is not required. If no icon is specified, FormsBoard will use the default InfoPath (XSN) icon.
    5. Enable History – if checked, past versions of the documents in this document type will be displayed in the FormsViewer taskpane. This helps keep all the changes made to this Document Type.

  11. You will get a confirmation message stating that the document type has been saved.
  12. To customize the template, click on the Download XSN button in the Edit Document Type page:
  13. Save the template in your machine and open it in InfoPath Design mode. After doing so, return to the Edit Document Type page in FormsBoard and click on the Upload a new version link, then browse to the updated template in your machine.
  14. Click Save when done.
You can further manage its settings by clicking Edit Permissions or Edit Taxonomy.
